Through an unfortunate oversight, the CD-ROM distributed in the first
printing of _Programming Python_ contains several errors.

On UNIX: 

  Several README files have erroneous permissions.

On Windows and Macintosh:

  A few directories contain files whose names differ only in case

     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/lib/TERMIOS.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/lib/termios.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/lib/Types.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/lib/types.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/life-preserver/Index.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/life-preserver/index.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/old/lib/TERMIOS.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/old/lib/termios.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/old/lib/Types.html
     /cdrom/www.python.org/doc/old/lib/types.html

  Since Windows and Macintosh file systems are not case sensitive, one or
  both of these files may be inaccessible.

In an effort to compensate for these problems, we've placed the affected
files on our ftp site.
